A good copy showing light rubbing to the spine-ends with some bumping to corners. Front hinge started, some feint marking and fading to the covers. Internally are clean and tight. A very decent reference example. 11875.

The Glasgow murder trial, sensational in its day, (1860s) as the Sandyford Mystery, which eventually involved the Government making an intervention. Ex-libray of the Law Courts, Nairobi (two stamps on prelims). Good+ in Very Good protected jacket: light rubbing to covers, bumped corner. Pages largely clean, darkened edges, occasional light foxing, endpapers browned with foxing. Jacket bright, light spotting to back, light creasing to edges.

A pleasing and copiously illustrated collection of works by the renowned Scottish novelist John Galt; in the publisher's original uniform cloth binding, with gilt title to spines and gilded top page edges. John Galt was a renowned Scottish novelist and essayist, admired for his depiction of country life and for his notable use of local Scots dialect in order to create vivid and subtle social landscapes. This set is copiously illustrated throughout by the renowned English line artistâ and book illustrator, Charles Edmund Brock. Brock was a prolific illustrator in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, producingworks for such renowned authors as Jonathan Swift, William Thackeray, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and George Eliot. This set contains the following works: 'Annals of the Parish' in two volumes. 'Sir Andrew Wylie of that Ilk' in two volumes. 'The Entail: or the Lairds of Grippy', in two volumes.
