Glover, with a new introduction by Mr. Glover. Illustrated by William Sharp. Together with Voltaire, this Genevan philosopher has become synonymous with the Enlightenment that swept Europe in the mid eighteenth century, His works, such as "Emile" and "The Social Contract" greatly influenced the future thinking on education and politics, During the French Revolution Rousseau was the most popular of the philosophes among members of the Jacobin Club. No previous ownership marks. A clean, square, unmarked copy in intact, clean slipcase. Mild toning to spine as per usual. Near fine in a near fine slipcase.

The Heritage Club "Sandglass" issued monthly to members is laid in: Sandglass issue Number: I:20. Housed in a brown slipcase in Near Fine condition with the. "The Heritage Press" was an imprint of George Macy Companies from 1937-1982. In 1929, George Macy founded the Limited Editions Club, publishing illustrated books in limited numbers usually 1500 copies. The Heritage Press reprinted affordable classic nineteenth century novels and biographies enabling fine books to reach the mainstream public previously printed by the exclusive publishers.
