Hardcover. Etat : Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This 5.75 x 8.25 inch, 332 page hardcover book is the 1931 first edition of this title with that date in roman numerals on the title page and matching the 1931 copyright date. This book - which lacks a dust wrapper - is in near fine condition with just a bit of time and shelf wear showing to the mustard-yellow cloth covers with black titling on front panel and spine. The corners show just a bit of wear but have not at all worn through and there are a few little bumps to the edges of the front panel and just a bit of wear to the very top and bottom of the spine - but there are no real tears or damage here. The interior is in all but fine condition with a hint of age toning to the paper but no real damage or markings to be seen. This book has long been seen as one of the best accounts of the American West through the 19th century with information on native Americans as well as white-skinned characters of all sorts.

First edition. First edition. 8vo. Cloth, xvii [3], 332 pp., foreword. Foreword by Rupert Hughes. Six Guns 1924 says, "Scarce." "This book deals with many of the Arizona outlaws Rynning pursued while serving as an Arizona Ranger." Rynning was one of the most colorful and exciting characters of the American West. He was a cowboy, and Indian fighter, an officer in the Roosevelt Rough Riders, and penitentiary warden, as well as an Arizona Ranger. Former owner's bookplate removed from front fly leaf, else a near-fine copy in the elusive dust jacket which has light wear to the head of spine and extremities, with the rare wrap-a-round promotional band with a promotional blurb by Rupert Hughes. Much "Rough Rider" content and the nicest copy we've seen of this book in years.
