Hardcover. Etat : Good. No Jacket. Smith, Jessie Willcox (illustrateur). Reprint. Offers behind-the-scenes look at some of the most famous children in literature, those who populated the works of Charles Dickens. Also discusses their living situation in 19th-century London & some background on Dickens himself. This is another of a lovely series of classic books for young readers illustrated by famous artists of the day, each with a colorful paper pastedown to the front board. This one features the illustrations of Jessie Wilcox Smith, including the Frontispiece & 9 internal illustrations throughout the 259 pages of text. Orig. published in 1925, this is a 1945 printing, which is identical. Hardcover book has matte black boards with colorful front paper pastedown of Bob Cratchit & Tiny Tim. Condition is downgraded to only Good due to heavy rubbing to extremities, including heavily bumped corners which have frayed all the way to the underlying boards. Front pastedown is very good, as is the interior: binding is strong & straight, pages moderately tanned, commensurate with age, but even without marking or foxing. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
