Son uvre comporte des récits d'anticipation aussi bien que des biographies de Thomas Jefferson ou d'Alexander Hamilton. C'est la première fois que cet écrivain est publié dans notre pays. Dans L'homme dissocié, la nouvelle qui donne son titre à ce recueil, nous voyons un condamné subir la « dissociation ». Ce sort, pire que la mort, aboutit à la fragmentation de la conscience en des millions d'entités éternellement séparées. La voix des ancêtres raconte l'histoire d'un voyageur temporel qui quitte notre époque en 1933 et se rend dans le passé, chez les Huns. Là, pour sauver sa vie, il est amené à tuer un de ces féroces guerriers. La mort de cet unique Hun va amener d'étranges bouleversements dans le monde politique d'avant-guerre. Des Terriens et des Martiens, dans le récit Froid, exploitent en commun un gisement d'armorium sur un satellite de Saturne. Ce minerai est désormais indispensable à la vie économique des deux planètes. Aussi, lorsque le filon vient à s'épuiser, les deux gouvernements cherchent-ils à s'emparer du stock existant.
