Selina Gerhard Schultz, Editor. 1961. ix, 493 pp.ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Caspar Schwenckfeld von Ossig (1489-1561) was a German theologian, writer, physician, naturalist, and preacher who became a Protestant Reformer and spiritualist. Influenced by reformer Martin Luther, he was one of the earliest promoters of the Protestant Reformation in Silesia, yet clashed with Luther on some convictions such as the "real presence" within communion. In 1541, Schwenckfeld published the Great Confession on the Glory of Christ. Many considered the writing to be heretical. He taught that Christ had two natures, divine and human, but that he became progressively more divine. He also published a number of works about interpreting the scriptures during the 1550s, often responding to the rebuttals of the Lutheran Reformer Matthias Flacius illyricus. (Wikipedia). CONDITION: Overall VG-. Shows some general external wear particularly at the edges and corners and some soiling. Two of the nineteen volumes (II and XI) are ex-library from The Theological Seminary of the Reformed Church in Lancaster, PA. Some inner hinges are cracked, yet boards are still well affixed. All volumes are solid, sturdily bound and are quite readable. Unmarked except for typical library spore within the two volumes. Occasional discoloration /dampstain marks within the textblock, (particularly at the end of Volume X). While leaves have lightly toned, the entire set contains very little foxing. A handsome, very substantive set. As this set is quite heavy at over 105 lbs., an additional shipping charge will apply. Please note that it will also be delivered in multiple boxes, and will arrive with signature required upon delivery. Full refund if not satisfied.
