First published in 1933 this is the 1945 ninth edition of this popular book of New Orleans recipes. Foreword by Dorothy Dix. Contains hundreds of recipes, many with the name of the contributor. This 1939 5th edition of 119 pages is filled with classic New Orleans recipes that were so good that the previous owner put checks after some as a comment to do again. The book is tight and free of names. The front cover has a rubbed spot on the letter "T" in the title where a stcker may have been removed.

Copyright date is 1933, this edition is dated on the copyright page 1939. 116 pages. The binding is strong. Front gutter cracked, pages inside are toned with some water stains along the edges of the endpapers. Magazine clipping glued into the front free endpaper. Corners are bumped and rubbed. Covers are rubbed as well. Crown and foot of the spine have some tears and are rubbed as well. Spine is toned. Pages inside are clean of foreign markings, though toned and foxed. Signed by Caroline Merrick Jones on the title page. Reads, "To [blank] with best wishes of Caroline Merrick Jones, May 19, 1939.".

First published in 1933, with more than 600 recipes preceded by praise for renowned chefs, restaurants and creole dishes not to be missed. Contributor Scott was a playwright and a columnist at The New Orleans States, and involved with the restoration of the French Quarter in the 1920s, then opened a pension for artists in Taxco, Mexico. Dix was an early advice columnist, syndicated around the world. Now preserved in a removable clear archival sleeve.
