Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. No Jacket. Ronald Searle (illustrateur). "First Published by Perpetua 1959 / First Published in Penguin Books 1961." Thus, the first paperback, but NOT the true first. "Penguin Books 1659." Bottom of front wrap slightly darkened. Primarily a book of Mr. Searle's charmingly ghoulish cartoons, which became the basis for the series of comedic films about the out-of-control inmates of the upper-class British girls' school. Trade paperback with glossy wraps originally sold for 95p. British "public school" humor. Only the initial 63 pp of text are paginated, book probably totals about 140 pp., reduced from $21.
