Hardcover. Etat : Good. This ULTRA SCARCE 218 pp. Civil War Regimental History is an excellent one with photo vignettes of many of the soldiers interspersed throughout. Some Officers have full-page plate photographs. This book not only details the Regiment's battles, but is invaluable to Genealogists, as it has multiple long listings of the soldier's names and when they mustered in & out. Other than light smudging here & there, the pages are all intact & readable, although pages 3 - 6 have rough edges and the final page was disconnected from the book, at some point, and it's edges were very chipped before the page was reattached. None of the chipping affects the text at all. This copy was owned by one of the soldiers in this Regiment -- John W. Kirk. He pasted his typed address label in the blank area above the words on the Title page & another at the top of the Table of Contents page. Additionally, he pencilled in his own military stats on the blank rear of the Title page. He dated the first label 1922, and given that he mustered IN, in 1861, that would have made him 79, when he wrote these notes in the book, if he was 18, when he joined. This book is a treasure-trove of invaluable information for any Civil war collector, but the fact that this 127 year old tome was really handled and written in by a Civil war veteran, makes it all the more desirable. Externally, the book shows random discoloration on the rear board & some on the front edge & corners of the front board, but that is not uncommon for books of that age. It is fully intact , handleable and readable. NEW SOFTBOUND REPRINTS LIST TO $169.00.
