First edition. Inscribed first edition of this attractive volume on the life and work of modernist architect R. M. Schindler, the originator of the idea of "Space Architecture" - a particular focus on interior space. R. M. Schindler worked with Frank Lloyd Wright in his early career, but he remained "largely unrecognized by the critical establishment during his lifetime" (jacket) for his unwillingness to conform to the International Style favored by Wright. This work evaluates Schindler's philosophy and works, and how his influence is still felt in California architecture. 8.25'' x 8.25''. Original orange boards. Original unclipped (no price) black, white, and orange pictorial dust jacket. Illustrated in black and white. 304 pages. Inscribed by Sheine and signed by Mudford to title page, dated 1.04.08 and 8/11/08 respectively. Jacket with some sunning to spine and rear, a touch of sunning to front top edge. Binding with a hint of bumping to corners. Else clean and bright. Fine in very good plus dust jacket.
