Barron II-1046 [ANATOMY OF WONDER (2004)]: "THE EDGE OF RUNNING WATER (1939), tends more toward occult fiction than SF in featuring a machine for communicating with the dead, but its narrative attitude is very similar to that of TO WALK THE NIGHT." Nicholls' THE SCIENCE FICTION ENCYCLOPEDIA (1979): "[F]eatures a scientist's attempts to communicate with his dead wife and to revive her; horrors ensue." Bleiler's THE GUIDE TO SUPERNATURAL FICTION 1482: "A good mystery, with apt characterizations and local color." Reginald 13282. Hubin (1979), p. 380. Hubin (1994), p. 751. See also: Clute and Nicholls (1993) p. 1116. Barron 2-93 (1981) and Barron 2-102 (1987, ANATOMY OF WONDER). First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good condition/No jacket. 8vo. (viii), 295pp.
