It has been revised to include new facts concerning old-time yards and fuller information regarding post-war activities in the industry locally. 191pp. Illus throughout with b & w photos + tipped in colour frontis of the sailing ship "Torrens". This edition also has a colour plan of the River Wear & Docks at Sunderland on the reverse of the bfep & inside the back cover. The book was originally published in a different format in 1946 to mark the 600th anniversary of shipbuilding on the River Wear. This is a near pristine copy of the de-luxe ed. in blue cloth with the titles & a gilt reproduction of the frontis on the front.

Etat : Good. 1946. No Edition Remarks. 97 pages. Illustrated dust jacket over brown illustrated paper boards with red cloth spine and lettering. Contains black and white illustrations. Clean pages and illustrations with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Pen inscription to front free endpaper. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Lettering is clear. Minor sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Minor wear marks to boards. Book has a slight forward lean. Unclipped jacket. Panels and spine have light edgewear with tears and creases. Minor loss to spine and edges. Visible wear marks to spine and panels.
