Nice black and white line illustrations.

Number 35 in the Oxford Children's Library series of books for older children. Tells the story of young Barty Dale and his adventures at sea as an apprentice seaman. Illustrated in pen and ink.

The story is exciting without putting any undue strain on the reader's credulity, and the atmosphere and local colour of the period are well preserved." The Ship Aground's dust jacket is price-clipped, has small hole on rear flap-fold, light edge wear, chip at bottom of front panel, light soiling/rubbing on rear panel, tiny tears with creases at top edge, two small old price stickers, protected by a removable mylar sleeve.
