Etat : Very good. ILLUSTRATED WITH A SUPERB COVER ILLUSTRATION BY LYND WARD - Quarto [11-3/4 inches high by 8-3/4 inches wide], softcover bound in pictorial cream & dark green wrappers with an illustration in brilliant silver & green by Lynd Ward on the front cover. There is some minor soiling & creasing to the covers. 34 pages with black-and-white illustrations throughout. There is some very light creasing to the edges of the pages. Very good. Among the contents of this wartime issue are an illustrated article on Soviet war posters; the text of Joseph Stalin's speech on the eve of the 24th anniversary of the USSR; "The Heart of My Native Land", an article by Soviet poet Vera Inber about the blood donors who helped save wounded Russian soldiers; and reviews of Soviet films by the poet Isidor Schneider. The boldly striking cover by Lynd Ward depicts a fleet of warplanes, one held aloft by the giant hand of an ally.
