Des envoyés et des représentants se précipitèrent à Anvers. Un inventaire français (« Spécification des peintures trouvées à la maison mortuaire de feu messire Pierre Pavl RVbens, chevalier, &c ») était déjà imprimé à l'automne 1640 et le roi anglais Charles Ier reçut même une traduction anglaise. Du vivant de Rubens, la demande pour ses ?uvres était élevée, mais l'intérêt pour les peintures du maître resta vif en Allemagne et à l'étranger dans les années qui suivirent sa mort. 3200 g.
