First published in 1904, this is the account of Sverdrup¿s four years (1898-1902) in the Fram exploring & charting100,000 square miles: Ellesmere Island, Axel Heiberg, Findley Islands, etc. The expedition met only Peary & a few Eskimos during the period. Fairley adds biographical chapters on Sverdrup: his explorations before & after this expedition, the territory dispute between Canada & Norway. The book measures 220mm tall x 138mm, and has 305 pages, 10 b/w photos, 11 maps, index. The book is in fine condition with no previous owner marks or writing, clean, no foxing, solid binding. The dust jacket has some minor wear at corners, no chips, no tears, price-clipped flap corner. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
