Delightful folio sized pastel colour-tinted steel engraved Maps with Vignette views of the peoples, animals and landscapes, etc. Overall sheet size 47.5 cm x 31.5 cm. Original pale colour. Two maps on the one large sheet. The upper map showing Abyssinia, the lower map showing Lake Chad and the adjacent region to the South and West (now Northern Cameroun and Eastern Nigeria). Numerous vignettes to the margins and centre/bottom. These include illustrations of costumes, wildlife, everyday scenes and topographical views. Some closed tears (repaired with archive tape to the reverse) to the edges. Paper clean but with a few VERY LIGHT creases/wrinkles - easily smoothed for framing - from storage, otherwise near very good. The maps are from 'Fullarton's Royal Illustrated Atlas of Modern Geography' (the last highly decorative atlas published in England). NO date but c. 1860/62. Plate number LXXIV.
