Twenty-Four Original Prints & One Hundred and Sixty Drawings By Luis Quintanilla. First printing, no others noted. Luis Quintanilla was an important Spanish draftsman and muralist. In addition he was a hero of the Spanish Civil War, fighting and commanding troops for the Republic. Crown Publishers, 1947; no later printings indicated; xxvi, 358pp., with 23 black and white illustrations from engravings made by Luis Quintanilla. From the collection of Phillip W. Pillsbury, former chairman emeritus of the Pillsbury Company and a grandson of the co-founder, Charles Alfred Pillsbury, with his bookplate on the blank front end page; additionally, a plate on the front paste-down states that this copy was awarded to Phillip's son, Henry Adams Pillsbury, for achieving "Second Prize in Middle School Scholarship" at The Blake School (Hopkins, MN). Binding is tight, sturdy, and square; minor wear to edges of light green cloth over black cloth boards, gilt-bordered plate on front board remains bright and bold, as does gilt/red titling on spine; illustrations and text very good; light foxing to page block edges. Moderate amount of wear to edges of clipped dust jacket, several small chips and closed tears; light toning to edges as well; jacket arrives wrapped in protective mylar.
