Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The main purpose of this book is to examine the existing perceptions of teachers toward instructional supervision in secondary schools of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It also explore the differences between beginner and experienced teachers in their attitudes toward and satisfaction with supervisory practices and (possible) relationships with perceived professional development, with a sample of 200 teachers using independent sample t-test, correlation and regression analyses. Results reveal that except for peer coaching and portfolios, the selected supervisory approaches were less frequently practiced in private and government schools. No significant differences were found between beginner and experienced teachers in their attitudes and satisfaction toward supervisory processes practiced at their schools. Moreover, significant weak to moderate positive relationships were found of the actual supervisory approaches, teachers' attitudes and satisfaction with professional development. However, regression analysis showed that teachers' attitudes and teachers' satisfaction are the most important contributors to professional development. 76 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The purpose of this study is to examine human resource training practices of Addis Ababa Education Bureau, Ethiopia and to investigate the managerial problems that hinder the education bureau in using and facilitating training programs in most effective way. It also seeks to investigate training opportunities available for employees and education leaders of the education bureau, with a sample of 10 officials (3 department heads and 7 team leaders) and 34 experts using availability sampling technique. Both questionnaires and interview were used as instruments of data collection. The results reveal that the practice of training needs assessment was done rarely in the organization, the process of setting training objectives was not participative and hence there was a limited opportunity that they can be equally understood by all, most of the training and capacity building programs offered so far were mainly focused on short-term trainings and less emphasis was given to on-the-job training methods, keeping records of various training programs was not practiced in the organization. 52 pp. Englisch.
