Bound in the original pictorial cloth. Comprising of: 'Tom Brown's School Days', by Thomas Hughes, under the pseudonym of 'An Old Boy'. With numerous vignette illustrations throughout by Arthur Hughes and Sydney Prior Hall. This work is set in the early nineteenth century, at Rugby Public School, and is largely based on the author's own experiences as a boy. It has been adapted for film and television numerous times and was also highly influential in the formation of the genre of British school novels. Light marks to the boards. Fraying to the upper and lower spine. Hinges strained but firm. Light offsetting to the paste-downs. Spotting to the free endpapers. Creasing to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age-toned but otherwise generally bright and clean with a few scattered spots towards the front and rear. Very Good. book.
