A fine copy with a spectacular pictorial cover in blue-gray cloth with a child's name on an endpaper and with decorated black and white endpapers and illustrations throughout by John R. Neill. A near-fine dustwrapper , with a yellow background, has slight wear at the spine ends but spectacular color illustrations on the front and rear panels (repeating that on the book's cover) This edition probably was published about 1949. Thompson wrote several continuations to the Oz series for the publisher after Baum's demise.

First state of the first edition, with 12 color plates printed on paper that is coated only on the printed side and with boldface Reilly & Lee imprint on the spine. Illustrations by John R. Neill. The fifth Oz book by Thompson, the successor to L. Frank Baum as the "Royal Historian of Oz." The book is in about very good condition: clean and tight, with relatively minor cover edgewear and minor rubbing of color on the front pastedown illustration. On of the 12 color plates has significant edgewear limited to the blank margins. Size: Small 4to - over 9¾" - 12" Tall. Book.

The book Fine, the DJ with tears and chips, but intact and bright, still making a very nice appearance. Scarce thus.
