Present avant-garde feuilleton poems collection named after popular Lithuanian folk song is author's third work in genre of rhymed short satire after "3 Granadieriai" (Three Grenadiers) and "Nuo Maironies iki manes" (From Maironis to Me). The first two collections include literary parodies, third one contains satirical poems published in satirical journal "Kuntaplis" edited by author. Here he criticizes social evils, bureaucracy of authorities, greed, exposed rulers machinations, assailed human vices, ironizing petty bourgeoisie and misery narrow-minded people. One of the strongest poems in collection is Obyvateliu himnas"(Hymn to narrow person) mocking Lithuanian Polish language (dedicated to Tutejszy, name of rural population). By creating such great feuilleton poems author cultivated the satirical vein and proved his talent as brilliant master at rhyming. Teofilis Tilvytis (1904-1969) was one of the leading Lithuanian avant-garde poets and most significant member of cult literary avant-garde movement Keturi vejai (Four Winds) after its founder Kazys Binkis. He had a strong lyrical talent. Prominent literary critic Juozapas Herbauiauskas wrote about Tilvytis, what he would have become Lithuanian Pushkin, if he had worked harder. At the beginning of literary career he concentrated on satire. In his short poems evidently seen influence of Vladimir Mayakovsky. In the Soviet period Tilvytis mainly wrote lyric and epic poems providing socialist realism.

Apart from Kazys Binkis, Tilvytis (1904?1969) is considered the second leading figure of the ?Four Winds? (Keturi Ve?jai) group. Interestingly, he later became a conservative member of the Soviet Writer?s Union who detested all things modern and adhered to a strict socialist realism. Nevertheless, at the time he was one of the most influential interpreters of the futurist style, which the Lithuanians had picked up primarily through the works of Vladimir Mayakovsky. With a striking photo-montage cover by R. Vosylius, about whom we were unable to find further information. A very good copy. «Among Lithuanian avant-garde books it is the one that most fully embodies the Futurist spirit, from the cover to the theme and the poetic technique» (Salaris). Very scarce. No copies in the trade or in auctions. Only two institutional holdings according to OCLC and KVK, the one of the "Martynas Mavydas" National Library of Lithuania (a rebound copy), and the one of Kent State Uni Library (Ohio). -- The author's first book, an avant-garde and satirical "poem" in three parts, each one more or less explicitly parodying Lithuanian writer: respectively, the poets Faustas Kira and Jouzas Tysliava, and the versatile Lithuanian-Polish writer Juozapas Albinas Herba auskas. The parody effect is achieved by clashing the high symbolist style of the originals with lowbrow pop and typically avant-garde vocabulary. Tilvytis, after the leader Binkis, is considered the second important figure among the «Keturi V jai» group, and a poet of great versification skills. «T.
