Váli, Ferenc A., 1905-1984. The quest for a United Germany. Baltimore: Johns Hopkins Press, 1967, xii, 318pp., very good dust-jacket but with chip at author's name on front panel, cover price $8.50, very good black and red cloth, appears unused. Author was born in Hungary, emigrated to the US in 1957, Professor of Government at the University of Massachusetts. He had traveled in Germany as early as 1914, 1921 and in the 1930s. The topic seems obsolete, but the issue of a divided state within Europe, between NATO and Russia, has more relevance than one might have thought. - CONTENTS: Germany: one or many -- The reunification question in west German politics -- West Germans and the reunification question -- East Germany and reunification -- Berlin and the reunification problem -- The reunification problem and international politics -- The German problem of the mid-twentieth century.
