Livre Edition originale
Hardcover. Etat : Good/very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. v+161, num text figs, three as plates in Volterra's 'Deuxieme lecon'. T.p. inscribed 'To Major MacMahon with Prof. Volterra's compliments', this is a mixed blessing however as ink has caused some kind of paper discoloration on verso, resulting in a small faint brown patch above title on Introduction, also offset on facing free end-paper (no half-title published presumably). Otherwise clean tight and unmarked.Dark blue cloth covers barely worn and clean, although there is a sm. inconsequential ripple in cl.on fr. Contents: 3 'Lecons' by Volterra on mathematical physics, Rutherford on alpha rays, Wood on optical properties of metallic vapours and Barus on iron carbides. One cannot help speculating on whether Rutherford met Freud and William James who were attending the Psychology department's contributions to the event! An excellent copy of private provenance. Note: quoted non-UK shipping rates are calculated for 500-700 gram net weight, cost will be modified up or down as appropriate outside this range. SALE PRICE. Signed by Volterra.
