Octavo. 459 pp.; 7 pp. subscriber list; 31 pp. supplement bound in at rear. 9 illustrations and albumen photographs; map of Devonshire and two maps of migration patterns bound at rear, complete. Blue green boards stamped in gilt and black. Decorative endpapers. Boards chipped and bumped with a few tears to spine ends and rubbing and rippling to spine. Separation to spine with professional tape repair to hinges; exposure to gutters in a handful of spots, but overall binding gives a little but holding. Spotting to pages and bookseller ticket to front pastedown, but otherwise interior unmarked.

hardback. Etat : Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. hardback, octavo, pictorial blue cloth, lettered gilt to spine, patterned endpapers. Lightly rubbed to some extremities, the binding remains tight and the text is free of marking, but with some foxing to the closed edges, and pre-lims. Colour frontis and four colour plates, four mounted photographs and three folding maps. List of subscribers at rear. The colour plates are all clean and unmarked, the mounted photographs are clean but the surrounding margin and facing pages are foxed, the three maps have foxing, lxxxvii + 459 + 7 pp.

Dark red board bindings, presumably library's, with faded gilt lettering on spine in very good condition - edges and top and bottom of spine a bit chipped, and some age marks. Binding still whole, pages tight with some tanning and light foxing at edges. Illustrated throughout with b&w, sepia and colour plates. Three maps at back, all with tears but whole and clean. Previous owner's name & address handwritten on front flyleaf.

Together with the scarce 32-page supplement published in 1895, loosely inserted. The whole is complete as called for and is in very good condition. There are 2 old tape repairs to the margins at the head of the fly-leaf and the half-title. There is also the original owner's name at the head of the title page. The book is now protected by a removable acetate jacket.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and fading to the spine. Front hinge is starting but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with some scattered spots to the odd page. Very Good. book.
