Hardcover. Etat : Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Published by Kegan Paul, Trench and Co in 1886 and 1891 respectively, here are the hyper rare (complete) 4 volume FIRST EDITIONS of John Wood Warter's AN OLD SHROPSHIRE OAK. Volume 1 (Published 1886) Brown cloth binding, gilt spine lettering, 398 pages, the book is in very good condition with a modicum of rubbing to the boards and spine plus some light creasing to the spine and some spotting to the end papers and to the extreme outsides of the page. Volume 2 (Published 1886) 347 pages plus a catalogue of further Kegan publications, brown cloth binding, gilt lettering the book is again in very good condition and almost identical to volume 1 except for a split to the front paste down. Volume 3 (Published 1891) Brown cloth binding, gilt lettering, 379 hand cut pages, the book is in near fine condition with some very minor creasing to the spine and some spotting to the extreme outsides of the page edges. Volume 4 (Published 1891) 459 pages, brown cloth binding, gilt lettering, the book is in good condition with some spine creasing, a split to the front paste down and some general spotting to the end papers and to a few pages thereafter. Volumes 3 and 4 comprised posthumously discovered source material edited by Richard Garnett and are extremely rare if not nigh on impossible to find. The four volumes together are obviously heavy, tipping the scales at 3.7 kg's wrapped and therefore additional postage of a fine magnitude must be applied to areas OUTSIDE the UK as follows: Europe £18, Rest of the World (excluding Canada) £30, Canada (please contact for a quote before ordering). UK postage is as quoted and will be tracked.
