First-hand account of Czech adventurer, traveller, writer and Eskimo chief of New Siberia Jan Welzl (1868 - 1948), also known by the pseudonym Eskymo Welzl and the nickname Arctic Bismarck. Some argue the work to be a hoax, and is a parody of travel/adventure literature by written by Czech satirist Karel Capek (1890 - 1938), author of the Forward to foreign editions. Nevertheless, the book enjoyed great success on publication and, whoever the author was, was a good storyteller.
