Hardcover. First Edition. Oblong 4to. With an essay on the Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show by Ron Tyler. Winogrand's perceptions of people in relation to each other (Texas) and to their show animals are among his finest works. The rodeo shots presented here exhibit all the arrested vitality for which Winogrand is justly famous, we see the would-be-masters and their intended subjects in numerous incarnations. As always in the best Winogrand photographs, the subject transcends the specific time (1974-1977) and space (the Fort Worth Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show) to become a commentary on human nature that is indeed bigger than Texas. A fine copy in a very good plus dust jacket.
