Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. No Jacket. Complete two volume set, missing slipcase. Dated 1953 on title page, but copyright is 1954. Black cloth boards with gilt lettering on covers and spines. Both books are in very good condition. Volume 1 has slight bumping to top corners. Both volumes have minor scuffing and mild soiling. Both have tight bindings and clean interiors. Volume 1 includes a frontispiece,168 black-and-white illustrations (some folding), 13 tables, and three maps.The large folding map and illustration that are housed in the rear pocket are both in fine condition. Volume 2 includes a color frontispiece and 128 black-and-white photos on plates. Volume 1 also has three items laid in: an errata sheet; a slip from the publisher with a description of the set; and a TLS in the original envelope from Edmund Whitman, director of public relations for the United Fruit Company, to Evelyn Roat of the Museum of Northern Arizona, dated 1959. This set is a report on the archaeological restoration of the ancient Mayan city of Zaculeu in the highlands of Guatemala, which was a project funded by the United Fruit Company. The first volume contains the report while the second volume is comprised entirely of photos. Shipping may cost extra due to size of set.

Upon completion, the site was retored to the people of Guatemala to become a national monument." An excellent set of the first editions in the publisher's gilt decorated black cloth in the original slightly rubbed slipcase.
