Hardcover. Etat : Neu. Catalogue of a choice collection of engraved portraits after Sir Joshua Reynolds, the property of the late George Richmond, R.A.: water-colour drawings, the remaining works of George Richmond, R.A., and engravings after his works: and drawings by J. Barry, R.A., William Blake, T. Gainsborough, R.A., S. Palmer and others. By Christie, Manson & Woods. London 1897. New edition in modern font-type "WM Blake". 1 plate. Additionally designed with 2 Frontispieces by Caitlin Hackett inspired by William Blake. = LÖB LIBRARY VOLUME LL 163. 2022 UWE LÖB BERGEN-BUCH AUF RÜGEN Editor/Herausgeber: Uwe Löb 20 p. 1 plate. Hardcover. paper: 150g/qm. book size: 21.5x30cm. Naturpapier und klimaneutral. Illustrated with two designs by Caitlin Hackett to William Blake`s Poems: Original canvas "Night" a 11" by 14" piece drawn in ballpoint pen, watercolor, colored pencil and metallic gold acrylic on paper. Inspired by William Blake`s poem "Night" 2014. Original canvas "The Crow Wished Everything Was Black, The Owl, That Everything was White" a 11" by 15" commission painting based on the line from William Blake`s poem "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell" 2014. William Blake was an English poet, painter, and printmaker. Largely unrecognised during his lifetime, Blake is now considered a seminal figure in the history of the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age. His prophetic poetry has been said to form "what is in proportion to its merits the least read body of poetry in the English language". His visual artistry led one contemporary art critic to proclaim him "far and away the greatest artist Britain has ever produced". While Blake had a significant role to play in the art and poetry of figures such as Rossetti, it was during the Modernist period that this work began to influence a wider set of writers and artists. William Butler Yeats, who edited an edition of Blake's collected works in 1893, drew on him for poetic and philosophical ideas, while British surrealist art in particular drew on Blake's conceptions of non-mimetic, visionary practice in the painting of artists such as Paul Nash and Graham Sutherland. His poetry came into use by a number of British classical composers such as Benjamin Britten and Ralph Vaughan Williams, who set his works. Blake's thoughts on human nature greatly anticipate and parallel the thinking of the psychoanalyst Carl Jung. In Jung's own words: "Blake a tantalizing study, since he compiled a lot of half or undigested knowledge in his fantasies. According to my ideas they are an artistic production rather than an authentic representation of unconscious processes." Similarly, although less popularly, Diana Hume George claimed that Blake can be seen as a precursor to the ideas of Sigmund Freud. Buch.

Originally designed and engraved by Blake for R. J. Thornton's School Virgil. "Beside their aboriginal and intuitive expressiveness, these woodcuts possess another source of charm, - in the poetical and pictorial richness of their subject matter, which offered no temptation to allegory, yet appealed to the artist's faith and native delight in Arcadian simplicity. The motives were simple and highly congenial, and in realising them Blake seems to have drawn on the happy and serene memories of his stay at Felpham, on the Sussex coast, the only years of his life not spent in London, and among the happiest he ever spent. Of all his productions these seem the most satisfying ; and in the history of wood- engraving they are numbered among the precious and far too rare examples of work in which the graving tool has been the direct instrument of an artist's thought, and the woodblock the recipient of his immediate inspiration. Series title also at head of titlepage Each plate preceded by leaf with descriptive text Title within line border. Buch.

New edition in modern font-type "WM Blake". 2 plates. Additionally designed with 2 Frontispieces by Caitlin Hackett inspired by William Blake. = LÖB LIBRARY VOLUME LL 1. 2021 UWE LÖB BERGEN-BUCH AUF RÜGEN Editor/Herausgeber: Uwe Löb XLVIII, 172 p. (228 p.) 2 plates Hardcover paper: 180g/qm Enthält u.a. Biographisches über William Blake und einen Brief von Benjamin Heath Malkin an Thomas Johnes of Hafod, Lord Lieutenant of the County of Cardigan. Nach der Ausgabe von 1806 bei Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme. Contains drawings, correspondence and other writings by Thomas Williams Malkin. Frontispiece by William Blake; the volume also contains some of Blake's poems as well as biographical material. According to my ideas they are an artistic production rather than an authentic representation of unconscious processes." Similarly, although less popularly, Diana Hume George claimed that Blake can be seen as a precursor to the ideas of Sigmund Freud.Illustrated with two designs by Caitlin Hackett to William Blake`s Poems: Original canvas "Night" a 11" by 14" piece drawn in ballpoint pen, watercolor, colored pencil and metallic gold acrylic on paper.
