Manuscrit / Papier ancien
Paperback. 64 pages, illustrations, wraps. 9.25 x 8.5 in. Ink stamp on final page: "Received Mar 20 1991, E W S M [?].". "The images that are the focus of this catalogue successfully harness contemporary Euro-American artistry to modern Pueblo experience," drawing on the artist's experiences growing up in San Felipe Pueblo, NM (Katishtya), "and the sometimes painful modern dilemmas of an indigenous person grappling with two cultures" (from the Introduction). Includes a section on her Boarding School paintings, in which the artist reflects on experiences at the U.S. government-built San Felipe Day School. Lucero-Giaccardo was also an organizer with the Farm Services Program, an educator, and a language preservationist (of Katishtyame, which is among the family of languages spoken by the Keres Pueblo people).
