SYNOPSIS: Here is a quilting book for young and seasoned sewers alike - an easy-to-follow, vividly illustrated handbook loaded with useful (and marketable!) ideas that everyone will welcome. If you have a basic knowledge of the rudiments of sewing you can move ahead, through this book, into practical areas of quilted wearing apparel, household items, and imaginative gifts - which you would ordinarily never attempt! Besides the quickly-made novelty items described (which make wonderful stocking-stuffers at Christmas time), the book includes an unusual collection of patterns and instructions for making bed quilts and coverlets, tells how "quickie quilts" are made, and gives numerous suggestions for adapting and using old-time patterns in today's modern decorating schemes. A quick scan through its pages should convince you that quilting is the hobby you have been waiting for. - and - The current revival in the centuries-old craft of quilting makes this complete handbook of quilting required reading for anyone who can sew-from schoolgirl to young housewife. Handsomely illustrated, the book gives the ABC's of this lively craft, tells how to begin with small quilted articles: hats, vests, baby items, and includes lesser-known phases of quilting - now coming into their own - which are practical and easy to handle. Among the many items covered in this storehouse of practical quilting suggestions are new ideas in bed and chair coverings, cornices, draperies and other functional household articles; color and design pointers; a chart of stitches; inexpensive do-it-yourself boutique items; plus a number of magnificent quilting designs for use in today's decorating schemes. Her book shows what fun (and how profitable!) this unique form of needlework can be for the young woman of today! Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.
