Coated Violet Linen. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. Second Printing, 1967. This careful biography gives much detail about Emil Jellinek-Mercedes' flamboyant life and achievements for Daimler-Benz, but is reticent about the man himself. Nevertheless there is enough material about the personalities and foundationss of the European auto industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to show why we now buy cars from Daimler-Chrysler, rather than Chrysler-Daimler. 319 pages, with List of Illustrations, photo plates and Bibliography. DJ has mended chips; boards are clean and sound; inked name of prior owner on rfEP; text is clean and strong.

Cloth. Etat : Fine. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. Anne Anderson (illustrateur). First Edition. Quarto (10 1/4" x 6 7/8"), light green cloth with gilt lettering on spine and gilt floral borders on front cover, archival mylar-protected pictorial dust jacket (uncluipped) with Old Man in a curio shop; illustrated by Anne Anderson with glossy full-color frontispiece and 5 full-color plates plus several B&W in-text drawings; ochre endpapers, "March Cost" (nee Margaret Mackie Morrison; 1897 - 1973) was an occasional actress and British novelist. She is appreciated for her novel A Man Named Luke (1932), a biographical novel about French actress Rachel, and her charming fairy tales. Prolific Scottish illustrator Anne Anderson (1874 - 1952), who painted and etched, had a delicate Art Nouveau style approaching some of Arthur Rackham's best work. Solid copy with bright, clean cloth (but it seems that the hinges--which don't seem at all loose--may have been reinforced with white binder's tape). The scarce and unclipped dust jacket is quite complete but has medium wear and areas of whitening. No previous ownership marks.
