Paperback. First Edition Thus (1976); unstated. First Printing Indicated by a complete alphabetical sequence. Very Good in Wraps: shows indications of very careful use, but a half-inch tear at the outside edge of the front panel has been tape-repaired: the beige background field of the backstrip has been lightly sunned, but the titles thereon remain unaffected: bold and clearly legible; else only a touch of wear to the extremities; mild rubbing to the wrapper covers; the expected light tanning to the text pages due to aging; former owner's blind stamp at the lower front endpaper; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of creases to the backstrip. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. A carefully-used copy, structurally sound, showing mild wear and several minor imperfections. Not without flaw, but remains a handsome copy: clean, sturdy, presentable. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (8 x 5.35 x 0.65 inches). 220 pages. Language: English. Weight: 9 ounces. A Harvest Book: HB 328. Trade Paperback. First Edition Thus (1976); unstated. Weight: 11 ounces. Trade Paperback. Anais Nin (1903 1977) was a French-born American diarist, essayist, novelist, and writer of short stories and erotica. Born to Cuban parents in France, Nin was the daughter of the composer Joaquín Nin and the classically trained singer Rosa Culmell. Nin spent her early years in Spain and Cuba, about sixteen years in Paris (1924 1940), and the remaining half of her life in the United States, where she became an established author. Nin wrote journals prolifically from age eleven until her death. Her journals, many of which were published during her lifetime, detail her private thoughts and personal relationships. Her journals also describe her marriages and numerous affairs, including those with psychoanalyst Otto Rank and writer Henry Miller, both of whom profoundly influenced Nin and her writing. She spent her later life in Los Angeles, California. She was a finalist for the Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 1976. This volume details her experiences in Mexico, California, New York, and Paris, her psychoanalysis, and her experiment with LSD. "Through her own struggling and dazzling courage [Nin has] shown women groping with and growing with the world." First Edition Thus (1975), so stated.
