Obscure collection of works by New England poets Mark Pawlak and Richard Edelman, featuring both poems sequences and essays on poetry by both. In very good condition overall interior clean and bright, some soiling and a small spot to front cover, crease to bottom corner of rear panel.

Hardcover. Etat : Poor. No Jacket. H/B condition is poor the front cover and title page is loose, spine missing. 197 pages plus adverts. Rev R Shirra 1724-1803 was a seceding minister of the Burgler Church of Kirkcaldy now Bethelfield in Linktown Parish from about 1750. He was well known throughout Scotland from his perculiar style of preaching and his broad and droll sense of humour throughout his ministry. In about 1770 he is said to have saved Kirkcaldy from plunder by John Paul Jones who was anchored off the town. The Rev Shirra along with his congregation went down to the shore and prayed. A storm arose and dispersed J P Jones.

Sunning and wear on spine leather. Light pink silk endpapers; heavy paper with two colors of ink. This Christmas presentation copy to friends of the poet is tripled-signed on three front pages, along with poetry inscriptions on each. Under the portrait frontispiece is written "This shadowgraff will make you laff." Captain Jack Crawford, an Indian Wars scout, prolific writer, and Western performer known as the "Poet Scout", was famous as an entertainer when he published these verses. "Being Buck-Jumps in Verse by Captain Jack Crawford, Roped for relief of the author, the divertisement of tenderfeet, and the joy of all those who love God's Great Outdoors." ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 143 pp; Signed by Author.
