Ajouter au panier1st edition stiff wrappers As New 8vo. xvii + 150pp., index, "Counterfactual questions, if kept within the parameters of what was possible at the time and place, can often help us better understand events of the past. In so doing, they can sometimes bring about a 'paradigm shift' a new way of thinking about history and hence of grasping its meaning. While the events described in the opening sections are fanciful, the underlying points, I believe are valid.".

Ajouter au panier1st edition dust jacket As New octavo xiii + 251pp., b/w plates, notes, bibliog., index, 'The 1952 court-martial of Major General Robert W. Grow, senior U.S. military attach in Moscow during the Korean War era, involved a general officer who had used questionable judgement in securing a personal diary that contained impolitic statements portions of which had been photocopies by an alleged Soviet agent in Frankfurt, West Germany. White the State Department and Central Intelligence Agency recommended refuting the implications of the published diary, the Army Staff decided to prosecute the unfortunate attach . Grow, a career soldier, welcomed a formal hearing in order to clear his name. The result became an exercise in Army politics and an example of the corruption of the military justice system through managerial careerism and unlawful command influence.'.
