With 72 plates from photographs by the author and his brother "In 1902, Emery and Ellsworth Kolb opened a studio in the Grand Canyon and began making photographs of mule parties, landscapes, river adventures, and nearly every other dramatic scene and incident that occurred in the area. They also successfully navigated the Green and Colorado Rivers in 1911, filming their journey. The film ran in the Kolb Studio in the Grand Canyon from 1915 until Emery's death in 1976.

Cloth. Etat : Good. No Jacket. Hardcover. The dark maroon boards have the authors initials CK inside of a gilt oval with scroll around it, the tile on the spine is in gilt. There is a white mark (1/2 inch long) on the cover, the corners are bumped and shelf worn as is the spine. The endpapers are age yellowed and has cracked at the spine front and on the last page of the story, the half title page has a 1 inch rip; otherwise the interior is aged, but very clean. There are over 100 wonderful illustrations by Linley Sambourne throughout the book. 330pp., there are also 32 pages of other books printed by Macmillan and Co and of works of Charles Kingsley.
