CONDITION: Good without jacket; no names or other marks, straight, tight, pages and plate very clean, upper back corner of cloth board shows very faded moisture damage on corner for about 1" in, and this shows on endpapers and pages as a 1/8" rim along 2" of top and sides of upper corner, no moisture was at or near the spine. Small hardback. Ernest Owl sets up a school for the bunnies, naughty Mary the chick, the lamb, and the kitten as head boy. Lessons are differentiated for each and the students are very happy. Very bright clear colours, almost like pochoir. The UK Brockhampton series began in 1949 with Emily the Goat. The McKay US reprints are not in the same order. Six Blackberry Farm books were published in this format with green boards in 1954, including Ernest Owl, and two sets of three titles with red boards in 1955, (dates, from library records in Worldcat , may have appeared on later printings) As of this writing, we have eleven in jacket, ask. CONDITION: Good in Good jacket; no names or other marks, straight, tight, very clean, but top board shows moisture damage (fading) over half the top, not affecting plate or endpapers ; in crisp, jacket, faded but still blue, with darkened spine, corresponding moisture area evident, 1/2" and 3/4" tear to top of cut-out; 1/4" tear at spine top, and tiny chips at extrems; 0.95 on rear. Small hardback. Walter grows bored and sets out to see the world, which is not as carefree as he had supposed. Luckily, Rusty the Sheep Dog comes along.
