Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. 1st Edition. A 96-page catalogue with many useful texts and dozens of vivid illustrations, published to accompany the first exhibition of its kind, about post-Russian Revolution ceramics (plates, teacups, saucers, jugs, teapots etc), fabrics (striking abstract designs or celebrations of subjects such as tractors, electric light bulbs and the Red Army), and items of clothing (dresses, sportswear, suits etc). So an unusually interesting book: as (for example) Lydia Andreeva writes, "Never before or since have contemporary themes in porcelain achieved such political clarity nor have they been conveyed with such decorative perfection or novelty. And this was the consequence of the immediate impact of the revolution." The book itself is in very good condition, tightly bound with no markings to the text. It's sunned faintly at the top of the back cover and down around the spine and among various minor marks of shelfwear and handling there's a little bit of bumping and creasing to the top outer corner of the front cover and of pages 1-12. Please take a look at all of the five photos to be supplied. A hundred years on, many of the designs, for example the Futurist-style fabrics, still feel quite fashionable - but with an edge. Many things would probably sell quite well if reissued again today.
