Laminated illustrated wrappers, folio, 31 cm, 96 pp, colour ills. From the foreword: "The year 1991 sees ehe 200thAnniveraary of the birth of the French artist, Alexandre-Jean Dubois Drahonet and the Special Exhibition held at the National Army Museum from 13 December 1990 until 10 March 1991 is offered as a tribute to an extremely professional, although relatively un- known, painter. Neither the Special Exhibition, nor this volume which has been prepared to accompany it, would have been possible without the generosity of Her Majesty The Queen, who has graciously permitted the Museum to borrow the 92 paintings by Dubois Drahonet in the Royal Collection. These paintings form the majority of Dubois Drahonet's surviving pictures with British military themes. While researchers will, quite properly, consult this volume for authoritative descriptions of the details of uniform, (with the sitters arranged by seniority of Service and Regiment), many others will read it for the information given about the lives of individuals, both the quite well-known and also the totally obscure, immortalized by the brushes of Dubois Drahonet." Slightly worn at foot of spine, otherwise Very Good.
