Hardbound. Maroon paper over boards with oatmeal cloth spine and white title square; blue-grey dj with maroon lettering; 48 pp. plus two gatefolds with 1 color and 36 bw plates. An expanded and fully-illustrated version of the lecture given at the Courtauld Institute in December 1964. The author traces the successive stages by which German neoclassical painter Johann Zoffany (1733-1810) gained the patronage of George III and Queen Charlotte, of his residence in Italy, and of the gradual development of his painting, "Tribuna of the Uffizi." VG (Paper dj is intact though slightly faded; book is nice, too.).
