Vol. I covers the frontier wars, the American Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Fenian Raids, the Boer War and WWI. Vol. II covers. WWII, Korea and international peace-keeping up to 1967. Douglas Harkness was elected to the House of Commons representing Calgary East in 1945. He also distinquished himself in world war two during the Sicilian Campaign and won one of the hightest military honours, the George Cross for valour.
