Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Near Fine. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good ++. B/W Photographs (illustrateur). First Edition. When Robert McMichael met Signe Sorenson in about 1948, they dreamed of having a home of their own. Salvaged logs and a lot of ingenuity sooner or later led them to create one of the nation's foremost galleries of Candian art. For example, in the 1970s, they began negotiating with Daphne Odjig about acquiring some of her work. These 410 pages are their collecting story, and of the development of Canadian art. There is also the turning of the collection into a national heritage. Illustrated with a few b/w photographs of such people as Thoreau MacDonald and Norval Morrisseau. Cond : Boards are green with gilt lettering - spine only. End-papers are white. Dust jacket is also green with white lettering. D.J. illustration is A.J. Casson's interpretation of the inside of the Kleinburg Gallery. Volume (and jacket) are tight, bright, clean and sharp in ALL respects. Collectible ! ! Quote (p.56) : " Dr. Arthur Lismer, R.C.A., was a revered elder statesman of the arts, one of the fabled Group of Seven, already a giant and legend in his own time. I was not used to talking with ._._._. ." Size: Quarto.
