Aus der Bibliothek von Prof. Wolfgang Haase, langjährigem Herausgeber der ANRW und des International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT) / From the library of Prof. Wolfgang Haase, long-time editor of ANRW and the International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT). - Einband berieben und bestoßen, Fußschnitt leicht angeschmutzt, sonst guter Zustand / Binding rubbed and bumped, foot cut slightly soiled, otherwise good condition. - Introduction: Recent Historiographical Trends From 1949 to 1979, the writing of history in China became even more directly subordinate to politics than it had been in imperial China. However, the past was no longer regarded as a mirror for the present, but as the dark night at the end of which, following liberation in 1949, a new era had dawned. What happened during the course of the long night of Chinese "feudal" history (and even during the "pre-class" millennia before then) was analyzed in Marxist-Maoist terms. All other forms of historical studies were proscribed and the research agenda limited to five themes: peasant rebellions (because it was believed that peasant uprisings were the major driving force of the development of China s feudal society); the formation of the Han nation; the landholding systems of feudal China; capitalist sprouts in the Ming and Qing; periodization. Despite the fact that the research agenda had the backing of the state and was watched over by a handful of politically approved historians, not every question was resolved. For example, no final decision was reached on how to deal with Marx s slippery concept of the Asiatic mode of production. Nor is there to this day a consensus on periodization, a subject discussed below. ISBN 9780674123786 Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 1413.
