Livre Edition originale
Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. Leonard Rifas (illustrateur). 1st Edition. 192pp, ix, with three pages (unpaginated) of Publisher advertising at the end. No editions, printings or number line cited, presumed first printing. Foreword by Frances Moore Lappe. References, pp. 191-192. Orange and crimson wraps with title lettering in bold white letters over crimson, across middle front cover, author names lettering in smaller orange over crimson at upper right front cover. 5 pages have small number of short red vertical marks in margins, denoting previous owners' points of interest in the text, with 3 pages having a small number of words underlined in text, 1 page as a single word underlined (these red marks have been reduced by erasing efforts to relative obscurity); some other pencil markings have been erased, but with residual shadow indents to paper (very small number, proverbial handful, of such pages of 192 pages in all). Uniform age-toning to edges and text; thin lines of wear on spine edges at middle; light wear at lower left spine corner; teeny wear and teeny outward curls at corners (still essentially square): describes much worse than it is. Still a solid copy with tight binding (NO creases); teeniest of wear at corner tips and teeniest of outward curls (essentially, still square); previous owner name and purchase date in cursive discreetly at top right ffep/endorsements page: that of Jean Chapin Smith, distinguished Cambridge, MA, social worker and professional counselor of parents of LGBT children, who died in March of 2015. A period artifact with surprising relevance more than 30 years later: "This book prescribes no specific set of actions or objectives. Rather, it suggests a way of looking at the world and being guided through it by our hearts and minds in concert. It explores a new way of understanding ourselves in relation to the world around us. It is about how we grapple with the complex and perplexing questions of our time, how we build connections with people whose lives are different from ours, and how we write our own parts in the collaborative drama of history." (p. ix).
