The contents are bright, tight, white and square. Laid in are two unused coloured postcards featuring the US Armory, Springfield, Mass. International postal rates are calculated on a book weighing 1 Kilo, in cases where the book weighs more than 1 Kilo increased postal rates will be quoted, where the book weighs less then postage will be reduced accordingly. All the major breech loading rifles of the Civil War - and most, if not all, of the obscure types - are detailed, illustrated and set in their historical context. Although only about thirty-five thousand breech loading rifles were purchased by the Union during the Civil War their effect - both during the conflict and after- was enormous. In the hands of Berdan's Sharpshooters, Sharps rifles set a standard for marksmanship that was later echoed by the buffalo hunters working at incredible ranges on the western frontiers. Other breech loading systems ranged from the glorious to the notorious. All of the major breech loading rifles of the Civil War - and most, if not all of the obscure types - are detailed, illustrated and set in their historical context on these pages. Ref TFC.
