CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: A well-know historian and writer before the war, Draper was inducted into the army and put to work in the Historical Section of the 84th Infantry Division, ultimately writing this Division's official history of its activities during the Battle of the Ardennes in World War II. The 84th Infantry Division landed on Omaha Beach, 1-4 November 1944. It participated in the campaigns of Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. It saw 170 days of combat. This is a quality production with excellent art work and photographs. The folding plates and map are well executed and unusual for a WWII Divisional history; here published by Viking Press. The added material material is relevant to the 84th and the war in Germany. Nice copy with the added material. Scarce thus.
