Dustwrapper somewhat tanned and foxed, with trace of edge-wear; earlier owner's bookplate on front pastedown; some foxing, largely to edges and prelims. Good condition. Concerning this landmark work, it is pointed out in a later edition that it "provides a comprehensive, critical and well illustrated survey of the portrayal of plants through more than three thousand years." An essential guide for collectors of botanical prints and colourplate books.
