In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, rubbed, resulting in a little loss of leather to the spine and extremities, and paper to the boards; loss of paper a little heavier to the rear board of Volume I. Small crack and lifting to the head of the spine of Volume I. Bumping to the extremities. Paper to the joints are discoloured. Some light marks to the boards. Hinges of Volume I are a little strained. Front endpaper of Volume I is detaching to the head. Dedication leaf to Volume I is detaching. Two bookplates and a library label to the front paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some scattered spots, mostly to the first and last few pages. Spotting is heavier to Volume II. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the title pages, and the occasional ink note to the text. . Repair to the margin of pages *2G2-*2I2 of Volume II, repair to the margin of leaf *2H2 is lifting. Chip to the head of the title of Volume II. A small patch of worming to the tail of the front endpaper to leaf 2R1 of Volume II. Good. book.
