Ajouter au panierFirst edition. First edition. 8vo. Gray cloth, titles printed in red ink on front cover and spine, maps on front and rear endpapers, 241 pp., preface, conclusions, appendices, bibliography, index. The Bannock Indian War of 1878 was the last major uprising of the American Indian in the states of the Northwest against the encroachment of the white man upon his domain. While less than 100 Indians and 50 whites were killed in the skirmishes, the war had a lasting influence in the shaping of Indian policies in the Northwest. All fighting was done in the desert lands of Oregon, Idaho, and on the southern border of Washington. A fine, bright copy in scarce, price-clipped dust jacket with some slight edge wear, else fine.
